Memory Lane -- Wollongong Part 1

Today, I walked down on my memory lane trip to Wollongong -- the only place I can still call home.

I took the 10:21am train to Wollongong and reached there at about 12 plus. There wasn't any express train, so I took the lesser stops. I dozed off a bit during the few stops, haven't got enough sleep. So I aligned at North Wollongong station and took the free shuttle to uni -- yes there is a free shuttle now. Nice! :D

I stopped at the bus stop just outside the recreational and sport center, had a quite browse then walking through the Health and Behavioural Department and took a detour to admin building across McKinnon Building, which is the biggest lecture room in UOW. I then walked back towards the Arts Building and Communication center before finally stopping at the brand new luxury Library which is now linked to the computer lab. WOW!! It was so grand!! I went to my fave corner of the libray and took pic there.

I then continued my journey to unicenter and stopped for my memoribilia shopping at the unishop. I settled in with one tee, one short, lanyard, two bumper stickers, magnet, two pens, key chain and reuseable bag. I wanted to get the UOW graduation bear for the Bachelor of Arts, but it was sold out from last week's graduation. Sigh!! :(

After that I grabbed lunch at the unibar, which was the only one open before heading to Kooloobong .. my 'home' for 2 years. The weather was hot with a little breeze, so not bad. I went pass Hope Theater which is under construction. UOW is really expending. Not only Hope Theater is currently under construction but also the IT Building located at the entrance of uni. Awesome!

Done with the uni reminiscing, I boarded the No. 11 bus to the mall, which cost $1.80 back then, now it's $3.20. Tsk tsk! I didn't get the chance to go to Campus East, maybe tomorrow when we get the rental car, should be easier.

Will continue the blog entry later .. it's now 1am, and I still haven't packed up my stuff to move to hotel tomorrow. My family is arriving tomorrow, so no more 'ME' time ... Hope I can still enjoy my time :D

Nite everyone!

Sydney

Just got back from roaming the Sydney city .. went to QVB, The Rocks, Hyde Park, Sydney Bridge and the Opera House. Well, the city doesn't change much since the last time I'm here. Then again, I didn't spend much time in Sydney during those days anyway. So it's still pretty much city feeling .. I shall feel more at home tomorrow when I go back to Wollongong.

Though one thing I miss the most about Sydney is the atmosphere, having street musicians, listening to people chatting on the street and seeing people kissing in public .. which we don't get to see that in Asian countries. Plus Sydney offers the Christmas feeling with the beautiful decorations and specially today's weather is really nice. A little bit breezy but it's just nice.

So today was basically about getting back the familiarity so I know the way around when my family comes and reminiscing the old times.

Meeting Brian again after almost 8 years and Pat after 10 years was surreal .. we've been friends for almost 12 years and it was amazing. The Lin's brothers have been a family to me. So thank you guys for everything and I got to meet their girlfriends too and share the stories.

It's gonna be a good 10 days in Sydney. Too bad I can't share the photos now, gotta wait 'till I get back home.

Down Under

Hello from land down under ... I finally received last minute confirmation on flying 2 days earlier than my other family so I get the chance to have my memory lane trip to Sydney and Wollongong.

The initial plan was go straight to Wollongong today after arriving in Sydney, but I was too zombified, so I decided to postpone to tomorrow and roaming around the city today after re-charging my sleeping time.

I'm currently at Brian's house and about the head out to enjoy the weather and the city. The weather is just nice. Not too hot and not too cold .. a good summer day of 25 degrees.

Have a good day people.

Wishing you an early Merry Christmas

This comes in the email today ... realizing that Christmas is just around the corner and this would be my first Christmas away since I started working almost 7 years ago.

This should be my 2nd or 3rd Christmas in Sydney 'cos I always went home for Christmas holiday during my uni days. Well, at least this time I get to experience Christmas period in winter :)

Anyway, have a great Christmas holiday. Hope you have a great one ..
